Green Apple Day of Service at Corona

Green Apple is a global movement to put all children in schools where they have clean and healthy air to breathe, where energy and resources are conserved, and where they can be inspired to dream of a brighter future.  Read more here.

Serious weeding by the Burgess family.

The take away from this experience is that when people and their specific skills come together to support a cause, wonderful things happen.  Corona's community is richer because of this.
Now we must keep that herb garden alive.  :-)

Being Prepared

This week my focus is the Herb Garden and the Green Apple Service Day coming up on 9/28.

Kathy brought her roto tiller and started loosening up the area.

I did it too.

The Herb Garden plot is almost ready.  We will add a bit of compost on Saturday and then get busy planting.

One of the new hoses purchased to water the plants as they grow.
It is gratifying to see this project come together.  Saturday will be a great day. You can sign up here.

Connections + Input = Success

Rita is the District Food and Nutrition Supervisor.  She visited the garden and shared her gardening experience and offered feedback on the projects we are considering.
Thanks Rita.

Birds

That little dark spot in the middle is a bird.

I hear them and quietly try to take pictures but it appears they are a shy bunch and do not indulge me.
It is a sweet sound.  I want to learn more about attracting birds.
